The new Mercedes-Benz Dartford, located next to J1 on the M25, is a stunning dealership, home to Mercedes-Benz and AMG.
Successfully handed over on 9th September 2019, on schedule, after a 52-week build programme, the project was ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rated and scored ‘Excellent (40/50) under the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Facilities include a showroom displaying 34 vehicles across two levels, an external terrace with vehicular ramp to the first floor, a drive through service reception and ground floor vehicle workshop with 24 hydraulic car lifts and MOT facility. In addition, there are software diagnostic bays and a separate valet centre with dry and wet areas.
As part of the UK’s largest Mercedes-Benz Retailer, owned by the manufacturer, the scheme was the first in the UK to feature the new corporate image specification, MAR2020. This called for a great deal of fast paced problem solving, ingenuity and adaptability, especially in the design and implementation of non-standard items, and the scheme will now form the blueprint for future MAR2020 projects.
Works involved extensive excavation and groundwork preparation, followed by the formation of a concrete ground slab on which the steel frame structure is built, with elevations using glazed curtain walling and cladded panelling, facias, and soffits. Central Fabrications was awarded the contract for external works due to our experience and capability in handling projects of this size and complexity. The external wall insulation took six months to complete, between Aug 2018 and Feb 2019, and we achieved a perfect finish due to the bespoke nature of the bullnose facias.
