New Bailey is a huge riverside development in Manchester, comprising commercial space, residential accommodation, retail outlets and a Premier Inn. Situated next to Spinningfields, the development aims to create a ‘gateway’ between Salford and Manchester and continues to undergo phased development.
In 2013, Central Fabrications was involved in the development of a new-build NCP multi-storey car park accommodating 633 spaces. The car park was built by the chosen contractor for this phase of the New Bailey development, Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, and was completed two weeks ahead of schedule. Situated on Stanley Street and designed by AHR Architects, it significantly increased parking supply in the area, adding to the original 615-space New Bailey car park, also operated by NCP, and built by Morgan Sindall.
Central Fabrications supplied 3mm aluminium triangles, which they designed and manufactured using a CNC Punch, and supplied with rivnut for easy installation on site.
Adam Robson, Head of New Build at NCP, said: “The completion of the new NCP multi-story car park within the New Bailey development has been a marked success. We worked closely with The English Cities Fund and local council to identify local community needs, utilising the latest parking technology to ensure it provides a frictionless experience for all.”
Barry Roberts, Managing Director at Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure in the North, comments: “I’m delighted with the project, which was completed early, within budget and to a high quality. This new car park plays a crucial role in serving the ever-increasing footfall and popularity of the New Bailey development, one of the most exciting developments in Greater Manchester. The visually arresting design combines flair with functionality, and it is a fitting addition to one of the most dynamic localities in the country.”
